Domestic European prices for hot dipped galvanized coil (HDG) came down at the end of last week on persistently low demand for material, traders told Metal Bulletin sister title Steel First on Monday November 12.
HDG prices in Northern and Southern Europe fell to €570-590 ($724-750) per tonne delivered and €495-520 per tonne delivered in November, down from last week's €585-590 per tonne and €495-540 per tonne, respectively.
"There have not been any major changes on the European market this week, but there is still a downward trend and, because of this, prices continue to move down," one trader told Steel First.
"Some mills have [even] tried to increase their prices by €10-15, but I doubt they'll be able to achieve any deals at this level," another trader added.
The price of HDG imported into Northern Europe fell to €555-575 per tonne cfr from last week’s €565-575 per tonne cfr, for December/January delivery.
